1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using the Consulto website (consulto.pt), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you should not use our site.

2. Description of Service

Consulto is an online directory of lawyers in Portugal. We provide information about lawyers registered with the Ordem dos Advogados (Portuguese Bar Association), including practice areas, location and professional contact details.

Consulto is solely an information directory. We do not provide legal services, we do not employ lawyers, and we are not responsible for the services provided by listed professionals.

3. Information Provided

3.1 Nature of Information

The information presented on Consulto is provided for informational and reference purposes only. While we strive to keep information up to date and accurate, we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness or currency of any information on the site.

3.2 Not a Substitute for Legal Advice

The content of Consulto, including articles and guides, does not constitute legal or professional advice. Always consult a qualified lawyer for specific legal matters.

3.3 Fees and Services

Any fees mentioned in our articles are indicative only and may vary. Always confirm fees and terms directly with the lawyer before engaging any legal service.

4. Lawyer and Law Firm Listings

4.1 Source of Data

Lawyer listings come from public sources, including the official register of the Ordem dos Advogados (OA) and other publicly accessible sources, pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (Legitimate Interest).

4.2 Professional Responsibility

Consulto is not responsible for:

  • The quality of legal services provided by listed professionals
  • Inaccurate or outdated information provided by professionals
  • Disputes between users and lawyers or firms
  • Fees charged by professionals
  • Availability of professionals

4.3 Correcting Information

If you are a lawyer or representative of a listed firm and wish to correct or update information, contact us at info@consulto.pt or claim your profile at /para-advogados/registar/.

5. Claiming and Managing Profiles

What claiming a profile means

Claiming a profile means verifying that you are the legitimate holder or representative of the profile listed on Consulto. Once claimed, you can manage and update your professional profile data.

Verification process

Consulto may request proof of your registration with the Ordem dos Advogados to complete the claim. This may include, for example, your professional registration number (cédula) or an email sent from the firm's domain.

Professional responsibilities

By claiming a profile, you commit to:

  • Keeping profile data up to date and accurate
  • Informing Consulto of any relevant changes (change of address, suspension of registration, etc.)
  • Not including false or misleading information

Consulto's rights

By submitting data through a claimed profile, you grant Consulto the right to:

  • Display the submitted data in the directory
  • Use the firm's name and logo in the context of the directory
  • Include the profile in Consulto directory promotional materials

Suspension or removal

Consulto reserves the right to suspend or remove a profile if:

  • The data is considered inaccurate or misleading
  • These terms are violated
  • The professional requests removal

In the event of suspension initiated by Consulto, the professional will be notified in advance and given the opportunity to remedy the situation.

Dispute resolution

For profile-related matters, contact info@consulto.pt. Consulto will review all disputes in good faith and communicate its decision as soon as possible.

6. Future Plans and Features

Consulto may introduce paid plans and premium features in the future.

In that case:

  • Advance notice: Users will be notified at least 30 days in advance of any price changes or transition of free features to paid
  • No automatic charges: Joining any paid plan requires explicit opt-in — you will never be charged automatically
  • Access to your data: Data you have submitted will remain accessible regardless of which plan you are on
  • Current free features: Some features currently available for free may be moved to paid plans, but we commit to always maintaining a free version of the basic service

7. Acceptable Use

By using Consulto, you agree to:

  • Use the site only for lawful purposes
  • Not attempt to access restricted areas of the site
  • Not use automated scripts to bulk-extract data without authorisation
  • Not publish false or misleading information
  • Not use the site for spam or unauthorised commercial purposes
